"Clever" ideas for drivers about frozen windows. We debunk myths!

You are in a hurry to get to work or an important meeting, and your car windows are covered with ice. This is one of the last things you want to see on a winter morning. Those who have the opportunity to leave their car in a garage are lucky, but not everyone can protect their vehicle against the effects of winter frosts in this way. There are many home remedies used by drivers, which are not always effective, or help and harm at the same time. Is there a safe way to protect yourself from frozen windows?
Most drivers rely on a scraper and a broom. In winter, these are indispensable attributes that drivers always have in their car. However, you have to get up earlier to deal with the problem and get to work on time. However, some drivers use much more "smart" methods. Find out what harm they do to cars and why it is a much better idea to use a professional window defroster and anti-frost cover.
A "reliable" duo for drivers - a scraper and a brush
You can remove snow and ice from the windshield using a scraper and a broom. There is nothing wrong with this as long as you use these accessories as intended. Usually we don't have time or we simply forget to turn on the airflow first. Turning on the airflow makes it much easier to remove ice from the glass, which melts under the influence of heat. Otherwise, dust and dirt particles and strong scraping will scratch the glass. If you are already a supporter of traditional methods, use the scraper together with a window defroster. By choosing broom and scraper for ice, check if it is equipped with a strong rubber for removing ice, and the brush is made of durable material and flexible bristles.

Vinegar on ice if you want to effectively destroy the paint
There is a belief that vinegar is a cure-all. We use it in the kitchen and bathroom to remove difficult dirt and fight ice on the glass. Mix vinegar with water and wipe the windows with it. We use it undiluted in the evening to prevent the problem. A moment of inattention and vinegar not only dissolves the ice, but also destroys the paint. After winter, it turns out that it is necessary to renovate the body and fill in any paint defects. Is this game worth the candle? Certainly not, and the damaged paint requires thorough repair. Otherwise it will cause much more trouble. An unrepaired paint surface causes the bodywork to rust. This exposes drivers to costs, especially when the car is relatively new. It is worth remembering that another winter and salt from the street will also have an adverse effect on the condition of the vehicle's bodywork. Therefore, vinegar is not suitable for use even in emergencies. It is simply a drug with too aggressive properties.
A blanket for the window and what's next
Another way of imaginative and creative drivers. To save on the purchase of anti-frost covers, they cover the glass with an old blanket or towel. However, in severe frosts, the material may freeze to the edge of the glass and we have to force it off the surface. Moreover, in a hurry and without much thought, we pack a wet blanket into the car, e.g. in the back seat or in the trunk, thus "flooding" our car. We dealt with one problem, another one appeared. Moreover, very often first covering the window with a blanket and then removing it by force requires some work. A frozen blanket leaves many threads of its fabric on the windshield, which must be removed immediately. If this is not done, they will thaw and drag behind the wiper blades. It will then be impossible to properly clean the glass as colored threads will remain on it. So the blanket is out of the question unless there is no other option. After one good and frosty night, this idea will become a thing of the past.
Window defroster for convenience - a must-have for drivers
A scraper is not a bad option, but it does need proper support. Window defroster is a preparation that helps remove ice and snow from the outside windows of the car. Spray it on the windshield, leave it for a few seconds to start working and remove ice and snow without much effort using a scraper. The preparation works quickly, effectively and at very low temperatures, even down to -37oC. Note: it does not leave any streaks, which translates into better visibility and greater driving safety. If you have dealt with frostbite, be aware that when you start driving, it will start to fog up from the inside. Don't worry, you can deal with it with home remedies. Before the air conditioning and window vents start working, use alcohol. Alcohol will prevent water vapor from settling on the inside of the glass and disturbing the view. However, it is worth having professional products at hand, which have a much nicer scent.
Car anti-frost cover for the night
You don't have to fight the effects of frost, you can prevent them. Frost cover It looks like a sun visor and is used in a similar way, but in different circumstances. In the evening, we cover the windshield with it and press its ends against the door to protect it against strong gusts of wind and theft. It is made of a special material, so it does not freeze to the glass. In the morning, just take it off and fold it up. It does not store water inside its structure, as is the case with a blanket. Shake the snow off the cover, wipe it with a cloth if necessary, and put it in the trunk. Easy and fun.
