A car tire is responsible for many important processes occurring while driving, and above all, for our safety. What preparations should be used to keep the tires in good condition for as long as possible?

Tires are related to acceleration control, braking, traction control and noise level. More and more new technologies appear on the market, and the tires offered are increasingly stronger, adapted to higher speeds or overloads, in corners and during acceleration.

Car tires are the element in direct contact with the road surface and support the entire weight of the car. Neither the latest safety systems nor drives will function properly if the tires are not in good condition. We must remember that tires wear out and lose their properties during use.

Types of car tires, differences in their structure and functions

Tires can be divided into: summer, winter and all-season tires.

Summer tires

They have few lamellas, grooves and other cuts. In the summer, we most often drive on dry surfaces, and the larger the surface of the tire in contact with it, the more effectively we brake. However, during the rainy season, the main channels drain water well because they maintain appropriate properties on wet surfaces. They are made of rubber and soot, which makes them harder and wears out slower, but below 7 degrees C they harden, reducing their effectiveness.

Therefore, you should always remember to change your tires as the seasons change. Weather conditions affect not only driving comfort, but also safety. And yet, we mainly drive because we want to reach our destination safely. Let us never allow a situation in which the lack of appropriate tires leads to an unpleasant road event, such as a collision or an accident.

Winter tires

They have a huge number of cuts and sipes - about five times more than in a summer tire. Thanks to this structure, they have high adhesion to the surface, while draining slush and water well. They are made of rubber and soot, but they also contain more silica. It increases elasticity and, as a result, they do not lose their elasticity at low temperatures.

Therefore, even when it is frosty and the roads are covered with snow, we can move. Of course, we should approach this with great caution and a dose of responsibility. In winter, even at low speeds, we are at risk of slipping. There may be a layer of ice under the snow, which is often unforgiving even for vehicles equipped with the best winter tires.

All-season tires

They are a combination of winter and summer tires. They are intended for use by a relatively narrow group of drivers who do little driving, mainly within the city, and who have cars with low engine power. However, on dry and hot surfaces, as well as at low temperatures, they will not provide as much grip as tires dedicated to a given season. Although all-season tires find their audience, their users may be afraid of longer journeys. There are different traffic dynamics in different places, sometimes we drive slowly, sometimes faster. It may turn out that they will not perform their function properly.

How to care for car tires?

Due to the important functions that car tires perform, we cannot forget about regular checks of the tread depth, air pressure in the tires, as well as their care. Car tires are exposed to harmful external factors.

Primarily to: UV radiation , chemicals used in car cleaning, and fluctuating temperatures. Consequently, they require cleaning and proper maintenance. Therefore, tires require appropriate attention. They are the ones in contact with the ground we drive on. The road surface has a somewhat destructive effect on tires. Therefore, regular inspection and maintenance are mandatory procedures that every driver should perform, regardless of the class of vehicle they drive.

What tire preparation should I use to take care of their condition and appearance?

Preparations adapted to the given application should be used. We choose a branded manufacturer because it guarantees us the highest quality of the preparation as well as effectiveness and efficiency. This is extremely important because we cannot use strongly alkaline products on the rubber mixture, as they weaken the structure of the material, accelerating aging.

Additionally, UV-absorbing additives are crucial . Ultraviolet radiation is one of the tires' greatest enemies – it leads to oxidation and accelerated aging. It's important to remember that proper maintenance with high-quality products will keep the tire in good condition, protect the tire's sidewalls from cracking and drying out, help restore elasticity (e.g., after using cleaning agents), protect the rubber, and enhance its aesthetic appeal. Tire cleaning and care products can be divided into aerosol , spray , and foam formulations.

Remember that only professional car cosmetics will provide the expected effect. Their composition is designed so as not to harm the tires. We strongly advise against using home remedies, such as covering tires with hairspray or lubricating them with fuel. We emphasize once again that tires are the basis of safety and you should not experiment when caring for them.

Tire care – where to start?

We always start the tire cleaning process by washing the surface of any current dirt. For this process, we use delicate preparations, e.g. Moje Auto car shampoo, which effectively removes all dirt and is safe for the tire surface. Then we use a tire care product. What measures do we have to choose from?

Tire blackening – what is it for and how to use it?

One way to refresh your tires is to use tire blackeners. As the name suggests, the use of this type of preparation causes the tire to regain its dark color.

The effect of tire blackener can be compared to shoe polish. This agent not only brings out the original color of the tire. It also allows you to fill micro-cracks on the sidewalls of the tires. It often has hydrophobic properties. Thanks to them, the tire is better protected against dirt and the tires maintain their parameters longer.

Tire blacken often comes in the form of a dressing or milk. The preparation is applied to a washed and dried surface. Tire blacken can be applied using a cloth or sponge. After applying, wait a few minutes to dry and then polish the side of the tire.

Wet tire effect – what is it and how to get it?

If we want the tires to be not only well protected, but also look impressive, we can use a preparation that allows us to obtain the so-called wet tire effect. Using such an agent ensures shine. The tires look as if they had just been washed, even a long time after applying the preparation.

If used regularly, the product will extend tire life. For example, Moje Auto Czarna Opona – with a wet tire effect contains silicone oils that protect the rubber from aging, while specialized additives ensure its flexibility. The silicone layer effectively penetrates the tire's structure and creates a protective layer against harmful external factors.

How to use a preparation that provides the black tire effect? Similarly to black paint and other tire care products, we start with washing. We start maintenance when the tires are dry.

If we choose an aerosol product, the method of use will be very simple. We shake the packaging. Then, holding the container at a distance of approx. 20-30 cm from the tire, we spray the side walls of the tire. We wait until the preparation dries and it's ready.

We should remember that only systematic use of care products will provide us with a protective effect. It is recommended that tires be cared for after each use of car wash chemicals. Remember to secure tires that you do not use. After dismantling, the tires should be thoroughly cleaned and preserved.

Tire foam – how to use it and what does it provide?

Moje Auto Tire Foam is a silicone emulsion-based tire care product. This product combines several functions. First and foremost, it provides excellent surface protection, shielding it from the negative effects of external factors. It also has regenerative properties, making the rubber more flexible and more resistant to wear. Furthermore, the tire foam helps restore the aesthetic appearance of tires by deepening the dark color of the tire.

The preparation applied to the tire surface is in the form of foam. Apply it to washed and dry tires. Spread the foam evenly. Due to its properties, this preparation does not flow onto the rims. A few seconds after applying the foam to the tire, wipe the tire surface. Tire foam is a very efficient preparation. One package is enough to care for approximately 30 tires.

Tire care milk – what is it for and how to use it?

Tire care milk is another product that can be used to extend the life of tires and improve their appearance. It is applied using a sprayer. The product's high viscosity ensures easy dosing, as it doesn't run off the surface.

Tire milk perfectly protects the rubber and protects it against the harmful effects of external factors. Additionally, it refreshes the color and the surface looks aesthetic. Thanks to the high content of silicone emulsion and its highly viscous consistency, the product remains on the surface for a long time. Moje Auto tire milk gives the tire a light satin shine. It is efficient - one package is enough for about 40 tires.

Please remember that in tire care processes we do not use preparations on the running part of the tire - the tread, because it may make the surface slippery and pose a threat while driving. We apply the products only to the side surfaces.
