Winter is a time when our car is particularly exposed to adverse weather conditions. Properly preparing your car for winter will help minimize the unpleasantness that awaits us, such as frozen windows, frozen locks, doors frozen to the seals, steam settling on the windows or the inability to start the engine. How to prepare your car for winter? We advise you!

  • How to prepare your car for winter? It is worth taking care of the seals and locks and checking the condition of the battery.
  • Preparing your car for winter also means stocking up on winter products such as winter window fluid, ice scrapers, anti-fog agents and lock de-icers.
  • It is also worth considering purchasing the appropriate

Low temperatures and snowfall can make life difficult for every driver. For this reason, we should prepare for this difficult period even before the winter season begins. How to do it?

How to prepare your car for winter? Choose the right tires

How to prepare your car for winter - winter tires

The basic procedure preparing your car for winter, is to change to winter tires. They will allow you to move safely on slippery surfaces. Of course, there are also good models of all-season tires available on the market, which can also provide safety and driving comfort. However, it is worth remembering that when we often travel in difficult winter conditions - winter tires will be a better option.

Preparing your car for winter - checking the battery condition

Checking the car battery

The next item on the list of tasks, which will prevent the engine from starting, is checking the battery condition. Why is it so important? A worn-out battery will not supply energy to the starter, which will prevent the fuel mixture from igniting. If the battery is OK, the lack of spark may be due to faults in the ignition system. How to prepare your car for winter? Checking the battery is one of the most important things.

Injection system inspection

In the case of "diesel" preparing your car for winter requires checking the injection system. If everything is working, but you still can't start the diesel engine, it may mean poor fuel quality. In the case of diesel fuels - according to the EN 590 standard - winter fuel should be offered at petrol stations from November 16 to March 1 F group oil (with a cold filter blocking temperature of -20°C) or arctic oil class 2 (with a filter blocking temperature of -32°C). Unfortunately, it may happen that we buy fuel from a dishonest seller and it does not meet the standard or that in winter the temperature drops below -20°C, which will cause paraffin to precipitate from the diesel oil and block the fuel filter.

To protect yourself from this, you can add an enriching additive to the fuel, i.e. depressant. The Moje Auto brand has in its offer Diesel Depressant. Its task is to lower the temperature at which paraffin precipitates from diesel fuel. The depressant is a year-round, technologically advanced and highly concentrated additive. It prevents diesel fuel from thickening at low temperatures, makes it easier to start the engine and improves its operation, and reduces fuel consumption. It is an effective additive down to a temperature of -40°C (depending on the fuel used).

Protection of seals against freezing

Preparing your car for winter - lubricating seals with silicone

Before the approaching winter, we should also take care not to be surprised by doors frozen to the seals or a frozen lock. Rain or snow and temperatures around zero are enough for the lock and seals to make it difficult to get into the car. How to prepare your car for winter? It is worth protecting the seals. To protect yourself from frozen sealsworth applying Silicone for gaskets Cars of the Moje Auto brand. Silicone can be used to lubricate door seals, trunks, windows and others. It lubricates dry, which means it does not leave a greasy film on the lubricated seals. It prevents seals from sticking together and, in the winter, from freezing in the car doors. It prevents glass from sticking to window seals. It causes old seals to soften, making them flexible and regaining their original shine and appearance.

Frozen castle in winter

Against frozen lock every driver should have lock deicer spray. Moje Auto brand defroster quickly defrosts, lubricates, preserves and prevents re-freezing. Such a preparation additionally has anti-corrosion properties.

Winter window protection

Car windows get dirty much faster in winter than in summer. You cannot allow lukewarm fluid to remain in the windshield washer fluid container. It should be replaced with a winter version. The Moje Auto product line also includes such a preparation. It is Winter car washer fluid -20°C. It removes frost, salt, slush and other contaminants from car windows very well, without causing streaks, streaks or discoloration of the paint. Prevents spray nozzles from freezing. It protects wiper blades, maintaining their flexibility and has a pleasant, marine scent.

Car equipment for winter driving

Every winter driver should be equipped with a windshield scraper and a broom. Driving with frozen windows and snow covering the body is dangerous and, in the case of a roadside inspection, also expensive.

The scraper can be replaced with a liquid window defroster, which, unlike an ice scraper, will not leave microscopic scratches on the glass. Moje Auto window defroster quickly and effectively removes ice and snow from outside car windows, works in just 5 seconds, is effective at temperatures down to -40°C and does not leave streaks. It can also be used to unfreeze locks.

What to do about icy windows?

The Moje Auto product line also includes a preparation whose main task is to prevent water vapor deposition. The product is very helpful in the autumn and winter, when the problem of window fogging is increased. It is Antipara My car, which when used in a car increases driving safety by improving visibility, for example in the rain, especially at night. The product contains drying substances, thanks to which water vapor does not settle on the glass. Of course, anti-fog is not everything. It is also worth replacing the mats with rubber ones and generally take care of the car interior in winter by stocking up on microfiber.

Proper preparation of our vehicle for winter will help us survive this difficult time, increase our road safety and improve driving comfort. We should think about certain treatments early enough. You should also remember to use a window scraper, liquid defroster and lock defroster throughout the winter.

Consider buying a winter cover

Taki winter car cover may be a bullseye for people who don't often drive during the coldest months. After all, it protects the car from frost and snow, as well as dirt. This also means faster snow removal for us.

Car equipment for winter driving

Knowing that the car will be used intensively during the winter, it is worth stocking up on useful things. You should always have the necessary accessories and service fluids at hand. Winter is a time when the car is subjected to a durability test and previously undiagnosed faults may come to light. If we are driving a relatively young car, do not worry, the problem may occur with an older vehicle. Sudden changes in temperature, such as a hot engine and cold outside, can reveal many problems. A car previously checked and considered fully functional may suddenly start to fail. Temperature changes and differences can cause leaks in the cooling system, windscreen washer system, or problems with opening locks.

What do you need to have in your car during winter?

In winter it is worth carrying various accessories and preparations. What should be in winter driver's essentials

  • A good ice scraper and a defroster for the locks, because even a short stop in the car park can cause the windows to freeze. This happens when the interior of the car is warm and the outside temperature is below zero.
  • Winter window cleaner and radiator fluid. If a leak or leak occurs, you can add fluid, which will allow you to get to the mechanic's shop.
  • A broom to remove excess snow that accumulates on the body, windows and lamps while parked.
  • A functional spare wheel, a pump for it and a set of chains for driving on difficult, snowy terrain.
  • A set of bulbs that will come in handy if you need to replace them, as driving in winter with faulty lighting poses a serious danger.

Safe driving in winter

To sum up, an efficient and properly prepared vehicle for everyday winter driving and further trips allows you to avoid unforeseen events. However, having the necessary equipment means that even when traveling alone, we will not be surprised by unpleasant circumstances. Because even if we are confronted with it, we can safely reach the place or a nearby workshop. A vehicle equipped in this way guarantees many kilometers of trouble-free driving.
