You save money, you decide on the products you use, you are only limited by time, but you can wash your car yourself at virtually any time, whenever you have half an hour to spare. Many drivers do not use car washes and take care of their cars on their own. In this case, however, you need to know how to wash your car. This applies to both cleaning and care products, as well as accessories. Most often, we use a sponge or a car washing brush for this purpose. But which is better for your vehicle?

Car wash brush – a controversial topic

It is perceived by many as a murder weapon, after all, its use can effectively scratch the vehicle's body. This is, of course, true if we are talking about a brush that we have chosen inappropriately. Certainly, a car wash brush cannot have hard bristles, otherwise it will do more harm than good. Hard bristles will, at best, cause small scratches to appear on the car's body, which will be very noticeable when the car is parked in the sun. However, in the worst case it will simply scratch off the paint. It all depends on the thickness of the layer and the age of the car. The older the car, the less resistant the paint coating will be. Sometimes it happens that the paint chips off the car itself without any help. Therefore, a brush with hard bristles could cause many sleepless nights.

The better solution is brush with soft bristles, preferably dense, made of plastic. You should also ensure its cleanliness. After each car wash, we thoroughly clean it of impurities and dirt. The bristles are also subject to wear, so check their condition regularly. Once it hardens and becomes crooked, replace it with a new one. Mainly, you should pay attention to the cleanliness of the brush before it comes into contact with the bodywork. It should always be rinsed thoroughly with a strong stream of water to remove any remaining sand particles and any other particles that could damage the paint. However, when considering the issue of brush wear, you must remember that even soft bristles may turn into hard ones over time. This is especially the case when the bristles get stuck together and instead of individual thin hairs we have thick, tooth-like combs.

Car washing sponge – gently and effectively

Many drivers and car wash employees do not want to take risks and choose a much safer solution, i.e. washing the car with a sponge. It is used more often because it is less likely to scratch the paint. A car wash sponge is also one of the cheaper options, safe for cleaning a vehicle. However, not all sponges are the same and drivers make many mistakes when choosing one. Before buying a sponge, it is worth paying attention to a few key aspects. First of all, it must definitely be soft, made of plastic, which will ensure that the paint will not suffer practically in any way. Another important thing concerns the amount of water that soaks into it. A sponge with high absorbency allows you to wash a larger surface. By using one to wash your car, you will certainly save some time and energy.

A good choice will also be a double-sided sponge, which is rougher on one side, but still delicate and smooth on the other. The rough surface of the sponge will help you remove insects from the car body and windows. An example of such a product is car sponge rectangular, double-sided "brown" Moje Auto. However, if you are looking for a standard sponge for washing your car, you can choose this one "butterfly" car sponge with a shape that makes it easier to hold and ensures a firm grip. In many cases, drivers wash their cars in the yard in front of the garage. If the sponge slips from your hand, it usually lands next to the car, i.e. in the grass, sand or asphalt. This is the moment when various types of sharp particles can stick to it, which, when in contact with the bodywork, can scratch the paint. Therefore, it is worth investing in a sponge that allows for a firm grip, as it will significantly minimize the number of slips from your hand.

Remember, however, that if you decide to wash the bodywork with a sponge, you must first thoroughly rinse off larger dirt from it. It will be helpful when removing large mud deposits telescopic car wash brush. Thanks to the longer handle, you can remove dirt without the risk of splashing dirty water. Never use the sponge directly on layers of mud, as the sand particles may scratch the paint. Therefore, use the sponge on a pre-rinsed vehicle.

Are there alternatives?

There are many drivers who are skeptical about washing their car with both a brush and a sponge. So they are looking for another solution. It turns out that this is it microfiber. The latter option is also used in car washing. It can be in the form of an ordinary cloth or glove. It is exceptionally delicate, practical, and very comfortable when held in the hand or in the form of a glove. Will it work on all types of dirt? Unfortunately, it may not cope with greater dirt. It is worth having it in your care products and accessories as an addition. You can use it to make the final touches and use it to remove dust from the bodywork on a daily basis. It is better suited for cleaning surfaces inside the vehicle. Washing the entire car with microfiber Naturally it is possible, but it requires a lot of time and energy. Before washing the car, each driver should independently assess whether the dirt on it can be removed with a microfiber cloth. If there is dried residue from tree dust or other dirt that is difficult to remove, you can safely use a sponge or brush. However, before doing so, be sure to check its condition to make sure that you do not damage the paint.

What if you combined a sponge with microfiber?

If it doesn't appeal to you car washing brush, or a standard sponge, we have another interesting solution for you. Microfiber sponge for washing the car, which is a combination of the properties of a standard, extremely absorbent sponge and the delicacy of microfiber. This combination makes washing even a heavily dirty car comfortable and safe. Delicate microfiber fibers will effectively bind any sand particles inside, making washing extremely safe for the paint. The sponge will ensure proper wetting of the bodywork and foaming of the cleaning solution. However, remember to rinse dirt from the microfiber frequently. It is definitely better to rinse the sponge more often than to clean too large areas of heavy dirt at once. This may cause the microfiber fibers to quickly become clogged, causing it to lose its natural softness.

This sponge also has a long service life. If you take proper care of it after washing, washing and drying it, it can last for several months! However, remember not to dry the microfiber on a radiator and do not use stain removers or fabric softeners.

Cleaning the car inside

A different situation occurs when we want to clean the inside of the car. Microfiber will be irreplaceable and invaluable. It is perfect for washing various types of plastics. Moreover, because it is extremely soft, you can use it to reach hard-to-reach corners, e.g. the air vent. It is good to remember that microfiber should not be wet, but slightly damp, then it will be best to collect dirt and dust. When we finish washing the car's interior and it is shiny, remember that this does not mean the end of our work. Microfiber equipment has helped us, so let's help it too and wash the cloth under running water after each washing. This is the principle of double purity. After washing and before washing. By doing this, we will be more sure that all sharp particles have been washed away and when we start washing the interior again, we will not accidentally scratch the plastics or their coating.

You wonder How to wash your car to avoid scratching the paint? Both the car wash brush and the sponge work really well. However, it is important to choose them correctly. If you decide on an unproven and surprisingly cheap product, you can expose your car's paintwork to very serious damage. We have an easier choice when we start cleaning the interior of the car. In this case, microfiber will work perfectly. However, to be completely sure which car washing accessories will be the best for us, we should test all of them and decide on the ones we consider the safest and the use of which will give the best effect. It is definitely worth remembering this when spring car wash!
