The car has had a spring bath, the windows have been thoroughly cleaned on both sides, the windshield washer fluid has been replaced with a lukewarm one, and I still have problems with good visibility? Hmmm, before I think about visiting an ophthalmologist, I will look at the condition of the wiper blades. The solution to the problem is probably simpler, but that doesn't mean it's less important than it seems.
Okay, I admit it! Last winter, and not only this one, I made my life easier when it came to scraping windows. If the ice did not form too thick a layer, I used the washer and wipers. Quickly, effectively and, above all, I didn't freeze. The effects of this can be seen (or rather not seen, literally) in the form of blurred windows. So I have no choice but to replace the feathers with new ones. This solves the question of when should we do it, in autumn or spring?

How to choose windshield wipers for your car
For a dozen or so years, I drove up to one of the chain car repair shops with this conviction. Most of them have a shop whose offer allows for an optimal selection of, among others, wiper blades. I choose those from the mid-price range. I already know that I will need two pairs a year for the windshield, and they will retain their properties sufficiently during these few months.
Choosing the right pens should be easy, because the manufacturer always provides a list of brands and models for which they are intended on the packaging. There is usually a catalog next to it, where you can verify this data by year or body version. I wanted to exchange the pens purchased in this way immediately in front of the store. Unfortunately, it turned out that the new ones have a completely different mounting and do not fit the wiper arms. Unfortunately, I made a costly mistake because I did not read the notes on the packaging, which I had just destroyed and thrown into the trash. It turned out that there are two types of mountings used by the car manufacturer for this model. I had to buy another pair, which this time the seller helped me choose.

By the way, he suggested the option of purchasing universal wiper blades, which come with a set of replaceable mountings called adapters. All in all, a reasonable solution, but I already know what my car needs and I stick to this set faithfully.
By the way, two very important things. I always replace the windshield blades in pairs, if I were to buy one piece, it would only be in case of theft or loss (yes, this can also happen). Oh, in most cars the wiper blades are asymmetrical, so the left and right are different lengths. Secondly, let's not forget about the rear window. In this case, because I use it much less often, I replace the pen every two seasons.
Feathers themselves are not everything
After every winter, I still look at my arms wipers, I clean them when washing the entire car, then wipe them dry, and spray the connections with the screws and the springs pressing the entire structure to the glass. a multifunctional preparation. The next point is summer windshield washer fluid, which I mentioned in the previous entry. To this list I will also add checking the connections coming from the tank and the patency of the nozzles and the nooks and crannies of the windshield where the wiper motor is hidden. This is a very sensitive place where leaves, needles and other "natural" dirt accumulate. If they are not removed systematically, especially when they become wet, they may clog the water drain from the windshield. A motor flooded in such a bathtub will quickly burn out, and the purchase and installation of a second one is a significant expense.
What about the inner surface of the glass?
Taking care of the outer surface of the windows, although very important, will not protect against blurring. The fact is that cleaning windows is important, and for this you need efficient wipers and the right windshield washer fluid. But that's not all.
It is equally important to keep them impeccably clean, but from the inside. Who hasn't rubbed their hand over a foggy window to be able to see anything? At first, visibility may improve a little, but after a while the window fogs up again. Repeating the procedure will hinder rather than improve visibility. Why is this happening? Well, because your hands are covered with fat. The skin secretes natural sebum. It is needed for biological reasons. A greasy windshield will not improve visibility, on the contrary. Characteristic "marks" appear on the windows, which is even more dangerous when an oncoming car flashes its lights. Then for a split second you can't see anything anymore. Unfortunately, on the road, this time can decide your life. So it is very dangerous.
To protect against this, it is necessary to use specialized preparations. In winter, special window defrosters will be useful, and in spring and autumn, anti-fog preparations will be useful. Please remember not to use your hands to clean the windows, but use special cloths intended for this purpose.
Summary
As you can see, not only cleaning the outer surface of the windows is necessary to obtain good visibility. The windows on the inside have the same effect. Therefore, you must remember that even the best wipers or fluids will be of little use if the inside of the windows is neglected.

There is no denying that as we age, our ability to see weakens, which puts the driver at high risk of poor judgment on the road. This is very important, so we will come back to these issues later.
